Kindergarten Slideshow

It's hard to believe there's only 3 school days left!

I've truly enjoyed getting to know each and every child in this classroom. I'm going to miss not having these students in my class next year.

Take a look at the video below!

Father's Day at the Park

On Thursday we had a very fun morning; we had our dads, moms, or grandpa come to play with us at the park to celebrate Father's Day!

The dads were invited to come to the park with us. If the dad couldn't make it, a different parent or grandparent could come instead.

We are so lucky to have such amazing parents and grandparents in our lives who take time out of their morning to spend with their children or grandchild.

On behalf of the Kindergarten students and myself...

THANK YOU!!!

What an amazing group of Kindergarten students!

Thank you to those of you who came to spend the morning with your child or grandchild. It's greatly appreciated by myself, but more importantly by your child/grandchild!

Alphabet Knowledge

Today we did some alphabet activities. The Kinders were with a partner practicing letter recognition or spelling words!

Each group received cards of lower case letters from a-z and they had choices for what activities they could do.

Here were the options for what activities they could be doing with their partner:

1. They can put all the cards face down in a pile and one by one pick up a card and identify the correct letter. If they were right, they kept the card. If they were wrong, it went to the bottom of the pile.

2. They can put the cards face down spread out on the floor. One by one, they can pick up a card and identify the correct letter. If they were right, they kept the card. If they were wrong, it went to the bottom of the pile.

3. For those students who already know every letter, this might be too easy! I had those students place their cards face UP and they could try to pick letters and spell a word. They were working on sounding out the word to know what letters they needed.

All About Insects

Yesterday we had a new centre open: The Science Centre.

One of our parents donated these real butterflies to our classroom for the month! That is so kind. Aren't they beautiful?

We have some other insects in the jars that the Kinders can look at with magnifying glasses. Then, they can find the insect on the word card and try drawing their own insect and printing it.
