Daily 5 in January

On Friday we did some Daily 5! The Daily 5 centres the Kinders rotate through were the following:

1) Read to Someone (the Kinders read with a friend) 

2) Work on Writing (practice drawing and printing in journals) 

3) Word Work (the Kinders worked with a parent volunteer and practiced printing Christmas or Winter words) 

4) Meet with the Teacher (the Kinders met with me and we worked on syllables) 

5) Listen to Reading (another parent volunteer read to the Kinders)

Daily 4 - First Time

On Monday we had our first ever - Daily 5 Centres! I refer to them as "Mrs. Jackson's Centres" so if your child is calling it that, that's why. On Monday we started with 4 centres so that's why we called it "Daily 4."

At this centre, the Kinders find another partner in this centre and read stories with them. They have to make sure they did right beside each other and share the books.

We had a parent helper in our classroom on Monday. Thank you for reading stories to the Kinders!

 At this centre, the Kinders get their journals and practice drawing or writing in their books. They can go anywhere in the room and find letters or words to copy down. Here the Kinders were looking at our word wall words.

 At this centre, the kids have a few steps to follow: 

1. Choose a letter at random. 

2. Identify the letter by verbally telling Mrs. Jackson. (If they don't know the letter, they have to find it on the alphabet, and then sing the alphabet until they get to that letter to find out what letter it is)

3. Cover the letter with rocks to learn the shape and form of the letter.
