1. Start with outlining your object.
2. Colour in small strokes.
3. Colour in the same direction.
4. Use your fingers and wrist to colour - not your arm.
Here I'll go into depth of each step.
1.
Start with outlining your object.
Always start with outlining. This helps to be neater when colouring. It also helps to outline first, so when you begin to colour you stay inside the lines better!

2.
Colour in small strokes.
Colour with strokes as big as your finger to your first knuckle. See picture below.
| This is how big your colouring strokes should be. Put your finger on your colouring page for a reference. |

3.
Colour in the same direction.
If you start coloring up and down, finish colouring up and down. Do not switch to left and right. This makes for neater colouring.
4.
Use your fingers and wrist to colour - not your arm.
We talked about using only our fingers and wrist, as we do not want our whole arm moving. This also helps us colour using small strokes. When we colour with our arm, we tend to use bigger strokes and be messier.
Here are some pictures of the Kinders working on neat colouring using these four steps we just learned:
(It also happened to be "wacky hair day" at school that day - that's why some hair looks wacky!!)
