On Wednesday we learned all about hand washing! We used Glo-Germ. Glo-Germ is a solution that looks like lotion. You spread it all over your hands, go try washing your hands, and then shine a black light on your hands to show where germs hide or where you usually miss washing.
This is such a fitting lesson for this time of year, as so many students and teachers have been (or still are) sick!
Proper hand washing is SO important!!!
Take a look at our hands below. This was our first try at washing our hands. Where (on their hands) did the Kinders miss washing??
After seeing these results, the Kinders were shocked. We learned about how to wash our hands. We have to sing "Happy Birthday" very slowly, TWICE! We also have to remember to wash:
1) Our palms
2) Our tops of our hands
3) Our thumbs
4) In Between our fingers
5) On our nails
6) Under our nails
7) Our Wrists
After learning how to wash our hands properly, the Kinders had a second chance to wash the germs off their hands. The Kinders hands looked MUCH better!!
I asked the Kinders what they learned about hand washing today, and here were the responses:
"Germs... HIDE!!!"
"Wash the top of your hands!"
"Don't forget about your nails!"
"Use soap!"
"Use soap!"
"Your wrists!"
