Last week we read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. This is a GREAT book about the first day of school and opens up discussions about sharing how we felt the first day of school. Some of us felt excited, happy, nervous, worried, or tired!
The Kissing Hand is a book about a little raccoon named Chester. He feels sad about going to school for the first time so his mom kisses his hand and tells him, "If you're missing me, press your palm to your cheek and then it's like I'm giving you a big kiss on the cheek!" By the end of the story, Chester's nerves went away and he gave HIS mom a kissing hand, in case she missed him while he was at school.
